Worst nightmare of Carol and Reggie

BETRAYED – Worst nightmare of Carol and Reggie

     This is the true incident. It is based on official reports and eyewitness accounts.

     1960, South Carolina,

      High schoolers, carol and Reggie begin to like each other’s. The couple are in separable, but it did not last long. After graduation they break up. Reggie joins the U.S.Navy and he gets married but soon after he divorce. After leaving the military, he takes up a job in his hometown.

     Carol too marries someone but divorce soon after. She again marries another person but divorce that man too. But this time this divorce would soon prove to be fatal. On February 18th. 1987, Carol was home alone with her 10-year-old daughter. Her second husband knocks on the door, then he shoots Carol directly six times and run away. By the time police arrive, but he had committed suicide in his own car!

     Even I could not guess the ending of this case. It is that tragic. This will be agonising to all those who hear this story. If you have steel heart, you might see the lesson behind this story. What happened, is what I will be discussing here.

     Carol saved by her 10-year-old daughter, Ronda. But even though she was under constant care of her daughter. Carol slowly recovers during the next 8 years. Just when she thinks all is well, she falls ill during 1995. She goes to the doctor who diagnoses her with liver cancer. This happened because, when she was in the hospital after the shooting, the blood she got from the hospital had Hepatitis-C.

     She tells this to Ronda and said that her dead husband is still troubling her even after his death. Determined to not stay like this, she looks for a job. She soon gets a job at customer service. She is incredibly happy because that was the first job after the shooting. She feels her life is back on track. Years pass, then during the year 200, she talks to someone during her customer service job; and is surprised when the person on the other end has a familiar voice and his name is Reggie Sumner. Carol asks if he was the same Reggie who studied the Great high school during the year 1962. He says “yes,” after the Carol says , “It’s me! Your ex-girlfriend,” “remember we used to love each other during high school.”

     They spend the next few hours talking about their marriage life, children, and all that happened during the past 40 years. They come to know that they are in the same city and decided to meet. That night, Carol talked to her daughter very shyly like she was a teenager. Ronda become incredibly happy when she listened to how Carol and Reggie love each other and how sweet Reggie was to her mom. Both meet each other, and Carol invites Reggie to her house. Ronda became incredibly happy when she saw her mom going to lead an incredibly happy life. After 6 months both are get married and they sell their house and move to the Jacksonville, Florida.

Ronda, although sad that her mom was leaving her, but she was happy that her mom was going to have a good life. Over the next few years, Ronda daily called her mom. But in July 2005, Ronda called to Carol, but nobody picked up the phone. Ronda did not think much of it but felt something was off when nobody picked up the call over the next tow days! Although Reggie was there, he had been ill for sometimes, but they would not go anywhere without telling Ronda. Ronda drives 4 hours and reaches the Jacksonville to check things for herself. She noticed the car parked in front the house was missing. She knocks on the door, but nobody answers it, even though the lights were on. She pushed the door handle, and the door opens!

     Only the pet dog was inside but Ronda knew her mom would never leave her dog. She goes to the dining hall and finds half eaten food were there. It looked like they were eating and suddenly had to leave. The vessels were not cleaned, Ronda knew that her mom was very particular on cleanliness. Ronda notices these red flags. Then she notices Carol’s phone, medicines, and purse. She rushes to file a missing report for Carol and Reggie. The news is broadcast all over, but no answers come through. Police start to trace the missing car and find that the car was on a mud road inside the deep forest in Florida.

     The police then get a call from someone saying, “I am Reggie, me and Carol have gone out so please don’t search for us,” then Carol spoke and said that they will return in a few days. Strangely both voices sounded young. Ronda hears the voice recordings and confirm it is neither Reggie nor Carol! The police thinks that the callers had kidnapped the couple. Suddenly the police officers find out the money was withdrawn from Carol’s bank account. So, they asked the bank for the CCTV footage of the ATM, the footage showed a 20-year-old teenager withdrawing money. The police officers trace the call made from the kidnappers. But it gave a fake name and address. They see if the number had phoned someone else, they see that someone had called a South Carolina car rental company. Cops ask the rental company if someone had called them from that number. They find that the same girl had rented car from them.

     The car was rented in the name of ‘Tiffany Cole.’ The rental company said that all cars had satellite tracking, so we can easily where that car is currently. The trackers showed that, the car was at a motel in South Carolina. The police officers think that Carol and Reggie must be held there, so on July 14th, 2005, a SWAT team goes to the motel. Inside the room Carol and Reggie were missing, but 24-year Tiffany and her boyfriend Michael, his friend Alan were there. They also had recently purchased computers, games, clothes, and perfumes. Upon seeing Carol’s car keys, they arrested and take them to the police station.

     They interrogate them separately, but no one says anything. Soon, Tiffany accepts that she robbed the home but did not do anything else. The fourth suspect Bruce was also arrested, Bruce then tells the entire story of what happened to Carol and Reggie. Upon hearing what he said, the police officers begin to cry;

This is what happened;

Tiffany starts it all. Carol and Reggie were her neighbours in South Carolina before they moved. Due to Tiffani’s abusive parents Carol took care of Tiffany like her own daughter, Carol gave her care, food, and money like a true mother. Carol even gave Tiffany her car before they moved out of South Carolina. Later in 2005Tiffany and Michael were at party, and they were thrown out the hotel because they did not pay money. With nowhere to go, Tiffany realised that Carol and Reggie were staying at Jacksonville.

     They went to their house at midnight to ask for help. Carol was happy upon seeing Tiffany and immediately welcome her in and she asked what she wanted to eat and took care of her and her boyfriend. Tiffany requested to stay for a night, Carol agreed and told her she can stay for as long as she wants. Soon, all have a big dinner and Carol and Reggie reveal that they got $99000 when they sold their South Carolina home and can live their retirement life in peace. Tiffany and Michal look at each other and decided to come back and rob the couple. Next day, Carol wakes up early to prepare breakfast and hope Tiffany will stay with them one more day. But Tiffany leaves the same day. Then they plan how to rob the money.

     On July 8, Bruce and Alan knock on Carol’s door. Carol does not know them, but politely asks if they need help. Bruce and Alan know she would be polite because Tiffany said that they can be easily fooled. So, they lied to her that their car had broken and ask to use her telephone. Carol, although suspicious, invites them inside. Then they closed the door and threaten Carol. With the fake gun. Carol screams in a fear and Reggie comes from the garage. He fights with them, but he could not do anything because he was aged. They beat him up and tie him up with only gap to breathe. In another car outside, Tiffany and her boyfriend are waiting for them. The two boys’ message “ALL CLEAR” to Tiffany so, Michael exits car and enters the house. The three boys start to robe everything. Carol and Reggie then think that they will financially recover after the robbery. But the boys plan to take Carol and Reggie to another place.

     They put them in the boot of Carol’s car and drive for 4 minutes, they enter a forest and from there enter a mud road and stop at a place. This was already pre planed. They had already dug two graves to bury Carol and Reggie! Tiffany and her boyfriend open the boot and saw that the duct tape had come off due to the heat and sweat and the poor couple were hugging each other and crying in fear. Carol was shocked when she saw Tiffany.

I cannot imagine how shocking it must have been for her! The same girl whom she so lovingly looked after was doing this to her. She must have been broken!

Knowing that they are weak, they do not feel the need to tie them up and drag them near the graves. They threaten to kill them if they scream or shout. Then they snatch Carol’s jewellery then push them into the grave. Carol holds Reggie and cries in fear. The original plan was, however, to not kill them but only to push them in the grave and threaten them to tell cash MACHINE pin and other bank related valuable information. The plan works and Reggie begs them to leave them alone. “Please leave us! We’ll tell you everything!” “We would not talk about to anyone,” told Reggie. They then order them to tell their bank information and cash MACHINE pin. He tells them everything, but even after getting everything, the robbers wanted to kill them.

     They want to kill them in a worst way: BURYING THEM ALIVE and they cover them with soil, and the entire time the couple begs them to let them live. Soon, the soil is up to their neck, and they find it difficult to breathe. They put more soil and keep the couple head higher. Soon, their body disappears in the soil. Since, their crying was still heard, they put more soil. Still, they hear their crying. Soon, the couple suffocates, and they die. The robbers then park Carol’s car somewhere else and take the rental car and withdraw cash from Carol’s card. They buy a lot of things, drink lot and enjoy without remorse.

     Carol and Reggie’s autopsy shows their internal organs were filled with dirt and mud.

 Cause of death: BURIED ALIVE.

Bruce became an approver and got a life sentence instead of the death sentence. The rest of the monsters got the death sentence.

It was hard for me emotionally and mentally to type a story on this case. Its heart breaking to see how bad people make use of good people.

Lesson to be learnt from this story: “NEVER DISCLOSE HOW MUCH MONEY”

“AND HOW MUCH JEWELLERY YU HAVE TO ANYBODY IN THE WORLD.” One day can change everything.
